Summer 2007 - Zakynthos

Posted Sunday, August 26th 2007
As some of you might know, me and my girlfriend went on vacation to Zakynthos this year, and I’m glad to report that it was great.
We landed there from Athens early in the morning, and after a frankly bloodsucking taxi ride (15 euros for 3 minutes in the taxi), we made it to the hotel. Only to be greeted by a closed reception - and after an hour of waiting, the receptionist showed up. This is probably the first hotel I know that has working hours for the reception.
But anyway, I digress. We were in Argassi, which is a nice and quiet little town. The other option is Laganas, but that’s far too noisy and has far too many brits, drunk off their asses.
Anyway, Zakynthos is great! To everyone that goes - you should certainly check out Keri, Porto Zoro, Banana Beach, Gerakas, and certainly Porto Limnionas - arguably one of the best places I’ve went to swim, ever. Great little bay, with a great restaurant on top of it, and the water was amazing - really, really really cold, refreshing, and great rocks to climb onto and look at. Great place! Just don’t order the seafood platter.. Apart from the kalamari, everything was a bit stale. Not exactly stomach-friendly.
Another great place is the Castle above Zakynthos Town - really interesting, with great views and awesome cannons, prisons and such.
We rented a scooter and a car, and saw pretty much the whole island. I’ve got a lot more pics (something like 300 total), but I’m too lazy to post all of them. So anyway, enjoy these, and I’ll post some underwater pics tomorrow, or the day after.
Note: Before anyone complains, all these are taken with my trusty Sony Ericsson K750i.
